St. Rita of Cascia statue, in colored resin. Height 30 cm

Beautiful 30 cm tall statue, made entirely of colored resin, depicting Saint Rita of Cascia.

Made in Italy by artisans experienced in producing resin and fiberglass statues. Rita of Cascia was an Italian nun at the Augustinian monastery of Saint Mary Magdalene. The sacramental of blessed roses is associated with devotion to Saint Rita.

This devotion is inspired by the legend of the rosebush in her parents' garden, which the saint miraculously caused to bloom in winter while she was ill in the monastery.

The rite, celebrated on May 22, consists of the priest blessing the roses presented by devotees, who take the blessed flowers home as a sign of the saint's patronage.
